What should be considered when storing HDPE pipe?


There are some important points to be considered while storing HDPE pipe after their production.

  • Precautions should be taken against clutter and the recommended height should be 1 meter.
  • The recommended arrangement for coils is silo. It is important not to disturb the balance in the coils taken one by one from the silo.
  • Straight pipes should be arranged horizontally in a row and should not stand at an angle between the bottom row and the top row. With the side supports, the pipes should be prevented from slipping.

PE pipes and fittings should be prevented from contacting with waste water, dirt and soil.

What should be considered in the transportation of HDPE pipe?

PE pipes kept at freezing point or lower temperature become weaker against impacts. For this reason, pipes should not be dropped, dragged on the ground rapidly, and should not be hit.
When cutting PE Pipes with a hand saw, two-sided support should be provided, and if it is done at freezing point and lower temperature, breakage or bending may occur. During the transportation of PE pipes, the vehicle to be transported should be at the full length of the pipe and the pipe should not hang out of the vehicle.

After the transportation process of PE pipes is completed, rope or chain should not be used while they are being unloaded from the transport vehicle, pipes and fittings should not be thrown on the ground. Crane or forklift use is the recommended lowering method.
